The Known World of Aterra: The Prisoner of Ruhak Tower is finished. It even has a cover, courtesy of GetCovers.com. It is all done…
Or, at least ready for an editor.
That’s where you come in. Times are tough, and my little novella deserves as much of a chance as any. In an age when AI books flood the market, and when people rely on AI to edit their books, I want to submit to you that it is ever so important to support human beings, creatives, from cover designers, to writers, to editors. Flesh and blood people who have to eat, and have families to support.
Machines cannot dream. Computers cannot imagine a story without stealing from someone else. I sat down and wrote this novella in 2022, the first one I ever wrote. I have rewritten it in 2024, word for word. My heart is to see this released, a dream realized, and to make a statement about the state of things. That statement is this; art, creativity, and storytelling should not be restricted to those who can afford it, and machines should only print ink on pages.
I am not pretending that the Prisoner of Ruhak Tower is a masterpiece, but it was written by a man and not a machine. It is pulp, sword and sorcery, fantasy. It is an action adventure story at heart, inspired by the likes of Conan and Pirates of the Caribbean. It has swashbuckling, monsters, magic and mayhem. I tried to infuse heart, truth, and fun into it. A machine cannot do that, and a no talent shill, the kind who releases books they did not write, cannot do that either.
So, I am asking for your support to hire an editor. In a few days, I will post a Kickstarter campaign, and will do my best to reward you for your support. Or, if you prefer, you can BUY ME A COFFEE and donate to the cause. I have been made aware of an editor for a very fair price, one that other indie authors recommended whole heartedly.
As it stands, I only intend to release this as an ebook on KDP. If I can raise enough cash, I will also have it formatted and released as an audio book and paperback.
This story is the first in an episodic series I have envisioned. One where my main character can be dropped into any situation. Old school sword and sorcery style storytelling! Here is the elevator pitch;
Trellen of Ulliea is a cursed man... and cursed men are dangerous. He has traveled the known world, seeking a way to lift his curse. So far, he has not found what he is looking for.
When Trellen arrives in the city of Anchi, in the nation of Par-Abah, he meets a cold reception. The desert nation is unforgiving, its people have proven untrustworthy, and the locals have no love for foreigners.
Now a wealthy stranger offers to lift Trellen’s curse for a price, and he must make a choice: seek a solution elsewhere, or risk imprisonment in the Tower of Ruhak... a place from whence no man has ever escaped.
With the proceeds from the book sales, I hope to have a custom cover made and hire an editor for my novel, The Wardens of Deyncourt. A totally separate world from Aterra, but still as sword and sorcery as it gets (or as close as I can get).
So if you feel like supporting me, and I hope you do, then keep your eye posted for my Kickstarter, or drop me some cash and BUY ME A COFFEE.
I'll be watching for that Kickstarter!
Hell yes brother!
